Luxury office rugs: G.T.DESIGN at IDD Cologne 2026

From work to wellbeing: humanizing the workplace with objects that have a soul

An office can work flawlessly and still say nothing. Aligned desks, impeccable meeting rooms, corridors that lead everywhere except to an encounter. Then something changes the temperature of the room. A soft surface underfoot. A color that recalls a sun-warmed wall. A pattern that follows your steps instead of breaking them.

This subtle threshold is where G.T.DESIGN’s presence at IDD Cologne 2026 begins. From 27 to 31 October, in Cologne, the brand presents two collections of luxury office rugs, Luoghi and Fluid, designed to bring warmth, identity, and a sense of welcome back to the workplace. Handmade rugs, created by people for people.

From rooms to relationships: the theme of Orgatec 2026

IDD Cologne – Interior Design Days in Cologne – runs alongside Orgatec, the international trade fair for the world of work and contract projects. This year, for the first time, Orgatec has chosen a single theme across all its halls: “From rooms to relationships: designing spaces in an ever-changing world”.

The message is clear. Digitalization, hybrid work, sustainability, and new expectations around collaboration are reshaping how spaces are designed and lived in. A room that simply works is no longer enough. It must connect people, encourage collaboration, and adapt to change.

This shift brings the office closer to the language of hospitality and high-end residential design. And it puts an often-overlooked element of workplace projects back at the center: the textile surface.

Objects with a soul: humanizing the workplace

For G.T.DESIGN, answering Orgatec’s theme means starting from people. A handmade rug carries the time and gestures of those who made it: the hand that paints, the hand that tufts, the hand that stitches. These details are not always visible at first glance. But they are felt.

Even in the most functional spaces, they make the difference. A designer rug:

  • defines areas for meeting and for focus within open-plan offices
  • improves acoustic comfort in lounges, meeting rooms and executive offices
  • brings color and texture where technical, uniform surfaces dominate
  • strengthens a sense of belonging and a personal relationship with space

Alongside the smart office, there is growing attention to “restorative niches”: places to recharge, which respect the part of us that seeks warmth and welcome. Textiles are among the most effective tools to create them.

Luoghi Originale rug | color Selve

Luoghi: the colours of Italian cities in executive offices

Luoghi is inspired by surfaces weathered by time. The walls of Italian cities, faded plaster, stones that hold the light. The collection brings this memory into lounges, relaxation areas, and prestigious offices.

The rugs are made of hand-woven wool, hand-painted on both sides. Light and warm at once, they combine the durability of wool with a distinctive color palette. Each piece is a true “textile painting” for the floor, one of a kind.

Luoghi is based on a modular system of hand-stitched sections in four base colors: Selve, Oasi, Borghi and Grotte. Sections can be combined on request, with customized stitching colors. And each rug can be produced in any size.

An oasis for the eye: IOC in New York

For the headquarters and contract departments of IOC – International Office Concept, a division of Lema Group in New York, Gensler chose Luoghi textile surfaces. Transparent, non-uniform brushstrokes in grey and green tones bring warmth to conference rooms and executive offices.

The irregular pattern creates an oasis for the eye, resting the gaze between emails and conference calls. Here the textile becomes one of the elements that support focus and wellbeing: a place, precisely, where energy can be restored.

Fluid: bespoke contract rugs for architecture

If Luoghi works with memory, Fluid works with form. Designed by Deanna Comellini, it is a collection of wall-to-wall textile flooring and hand-tufted rugs for complex architectural projects: hospitality, luxury residential, contract and offices.

Its technique combines CAD design with bespoke manufacturing. The result is three-dimensional relief, color gradations, and inlay patterns within an elegant, understated composition. Organic shapes enter the space as accents: they guide pathways, define areas, and soften the geometry of the architecture.

A single piece, up to 12 metres wide

Conventional wall-to-wall carpet relies on standard roll widths, flat surfaces and seams. Any pattern or complex shape means costly cutting and joining on site.

Fluid reverses this logic. Each floor is made to measure as a single seamless piece up to 12 meters wide, cut to the exact geometry of the space. Curved, irregular, or recessed layouts included. On request, the design can start directly from the architect’s CAD files. The floor becomes part of the architecture, not an afterthought.

For designers and clients, the benefits are tangible:

  • faster, more cost-effective installation, even for complex geometries
  • fewer off-cuts and less wasted material thanks to exact-size production
  • acoustic comfort: the textile pile absorbs impact sound and reduces reverberation in lobbies, corridors and lounges
  • high-performance yarns suited to high-traffic contract and hospitality spaces
  • fire-rated certification, as required for contract and hospitality spaces

Materiali: la novità 2026 in ECONYL®

La collezione comprende tre disegni e un’opzione sfumata, con colori su misura su richiesta.

È disponibile in cinque composizioni:

  • 100% nylon rigenerato ECONYL® (novità 2026)
  • 100% lana neozelandese
  • 100% Tencel™
  • misto lana/nylon
  • misto lana/Tencel™

One Thousand Museum, Miami

  • Next: tappeti e moquette taftati in G.T.DESIGN blend Re-Nylon, il nylon rigenerato ECONYL®, pensati per grandi superfici, che riportano con la stampa digitale i disegni più riconoscibili di G.T.DESIGN. Su misura, in forma rettangolare, quadrata o rotonda, con certificazione al fuoco Cfl-s1 su richiesta;
  • UltraNative: il formato esclusivo Native, a metà tra un cerchio e un rettangolo deformato, con bordi fluidi e motivi simili a pennellate. Realizzato in G.T.DESIGN blend Re-Nylon (ECONYL®), è un accento scultoreo per lounge e aree di accoglienza;

Haute couture, for an office rug, is not only about aesthetic excellence. It means measuring, sampling, and finishing. And technical expertise that supports the project well beyond delivery.

For almost fifty years, G.T.DESIGN has worked with architects and interior designers on residential, contract, hospitality and yacht projects. Each project follows a structured process:

  • design consultancy and development of technical specifications
  • samples of colors, textures, and yarns
  • artisanal production with quality control
  • international logistics and installation support, including rugs built into the flooring

This balance between the artisan’s hand and technical rigor is what makes bespoke rugs with a soul possible, even in the most demanding spaces.
